Connecting a PC to the BRI NSU

Overview

To configure and maintain the BRI Network Services Unit, you need to connect a computer to the unit. This computer must be running DOS and have a communications program (such as Procomm Plus®) installed.

Procedure

To connect a maintenance PC to the BRI NSU:

1. Using the RJ-45 to 9-pin D-type MMI cable, connect the RS-232 port on the BRI interface assembly to COM port 1 or 2 on the maintenance PC.

2. Set up the communications program on COM port 1 or 2 with the following parameters: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, ASCII character set, and XON/XOFF flow control.
