Unified Communicator Mobile (UC Mobile) is an application on the Mitel Applications Suite server that enables 3300 ICP users to twin their cell phone (or other external telephone connected to the PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network. The worldwide analog voice network accessible to all those with telephones and access privileges.) with their office extension. Once twinned, calls to the office extension ring both devices simultaneously, until one or the other is answered, or if unanswered, are forwarded to voice mail.
While the external phone is connected to the system, the user has access (via feature access codes) to the following call control features:
Hold and Hold Retrieve
Transfer
Conference and Conference Split
Cancel
Consultation Hold
Handoff (Personal Ring Groups)
Requires MCD 4.0 or later and the installation of the Unified Communicator Mobile application on MAS.
UC Mobile is ONLY supported on certain phones; see Feature Availability below to find out which ones.
All calls answered and made on the twin phone while connected to the 3300 ICP will use the twinned extension's account code for call accounting (SMDR) purposes.
The twin phone receives the outgoing line CLID CLID enables the telephone number of the calling party to be displayed on the display screen of the receivers telephone. There are now a number of contact-management applications that have made it possible to use CID to automatically bring up client information from a database and display it on the screen of a personal computer (PC) before the call is answered. from the 3300 (if available), not original CLID displayed on the twinned extension.
The codes dialed from the twin phones to access features on the 3300 ICP are as follows:
Feature |
Code |
Hold |
**1 |
Hold Retrieve |
**2 |
Cancel |
**3 |
Transfer |
**6 |
Handoff (Personal Ring Groups) |
**8 |
The codes cannot be changed nor are they synchronized with the feature access codes programmed on the 3300 ICP. Instead, the codes are translated into MiTAI Stands for Mitel Networks Telephony Application Interface. Used by applications to communicate with Mitel PBXs. commands by the Unified Communicator Mobile application and sent to the 3300 ICP. A fixed 10 second timer starts after the user dials **. If no other DTMF keys are pressed before the timer expires, the ** keys are ignored. The same timer is used for digit collection when transferring and conferencing.
The Unified Communicator Mobile application supports Hot Desking. Calls to a Hot Desk user are presented to its twin phone even when the user is not logged on to a Hot Desk extension. A call answered on the twin phone can be transferred to the Hot Desk extension only after the user logs in.
If the twinned cell phone is in a busy/unavailable state, calls will be forwarded to its voice mail (if available), unless answered from the twinned desktop extension first. If voice mail is not available on the twinned cell phone, calls received while in busy/unavailable state follow the "line busy" processing in effect at the desktop extension.
The Hotel/Motel Suite Services feature is supported by Unified Communicator Mobile but requires that the Desktop Monitor be set on an individual Suite DN, not on a Pilot DN. Note: Because the key line appearance of the other suite phones is not in use, the Call Hand-off feature only works when the suite of the Desktop Monitor is dialled.
Log into the 3300 ICP System Administration Tool.
In the License and Options Selection form, enable MITAI/TAPI Computer Integration.
Program a Class of Service (COS) for each of the following:
For these extensions: |
Enable the following COS options in addition to the defaults: |
Desktop Monitors |
|
Outgoing Lines |
|
TUI Lines |
|
Note: Ensure that the COS of the Desktop Monitor allows Conferencing (this is the default setting).
In the User Configuration form, program a dedicated Desktop Monitor for each twinned extension. A Desktop Monitor is a virtual extension that monitors the twinned extension for incoming calls. (A virtual or "phantom" extension is one that is programmed in the system but has no physical device associated with it. A virtual extension is programmed by leaving the MAC address field blank.)
Insert an asterisk after the first digit of the UC Mobile user’s extension number.
Set Device Type to "5220"
Set Hot Desk User to "No"
Set Voice Mail to "No"
Set Desktop Tool Access to "No"
Assign the Desktop Monitor COS to each Desktop Monitor.
Set all other fields to blank.
In the User Configuration form, program a pool of virtual 5220 extensions as Outgoing Lines. The Outgoing Lines dial out to the twin phones and must be on a controller that has access to the PSTN. The number of Outgoing Lines required is typically a third the number of twinned extensions. For each line
Set the Device Type to 5220 IP
Set Hot Desk User to No
Set Voice Mail to No
Set Desktop Tool Access to No
Assign the Outgoing Line COS to each Outgoing Line.
Set all other fields to blank.
In the User Configuration form, program one or more virtual 5220 extensions as TUI Lines. Users call the TUI Lines to enable or disable twinning on their extension or to change personal settings such as password and mobile phone number. For each line
Set the Device Type to "5220 IP"
Set Hot Desk User to "No"
Set Voice Mail to "No"
Desktop Tool Access to "No"
Assign the TUI COS to each TUI line.
Set all other fields to blank.
In the Hunt Groups form, program a TUI line Hunt Group.
Enter a Hunt Group DN
Set Hunt Group Move to "Circular"
Set Hunt Group Name to "UC Mobile TUI"
Hunt Group Type to "Voice"
Add TUI Lines as members
In the Telephone Directory form, assign the Hunt Group Name "UC Mobile TUI" to the Hunt Group DN.
In the Multiline Set Keys form, program the desktop monitor virtual extension with a Handoff feature key on button 2. Do not configure a key system (line appearance) of the desktop phone on the desktop monitor. Note that if Single Point Provisioning is enabled in the Network Elements tab of the User and Services application, MAS will automatically program the Handoff feature key on the desktop monitor.
Note: It is recommended that you also program a Handoff feature key on the user's desktop phone. This key allows users to handoff calls from their desktop extension to their UC Mobile phone.
In the Personal Ring Groups form, program a personal ring group using the desktop phone extension as the pilot number desktop phone. Set the "One Busy All Busy" option to "Yes". Add the desktop monitor to the personal ring group. Note that if Single Point Provisioning is enabled in the Network Elements tab of the User and Services application, MAS will automatically create the personal ring group, add the desktop monitor, and program a Handoff feature key on the desktop monitor.
Assign the TUI Line extensions to a voice-type hunt group in the Hunt Groups form.
In the COS for the desktop extension, set the "Call Forward No Answer" timer value. In a personal ring group the 3300 ICP system applies the longest CFNA timer in the group to all members. It is recommended that you set the CFNA timer for the desktop monitors to be several seconds longer than you would set for normal extensions. A longer-than-usual timer provides the user of a twinned cell phone more time to pick up the call before it is routed to voice mail.
Notes:
You must program the ICPs in the Network Element page of the User and Services application.
UC Mobile is only supported on loop-start trunks when the Answer Confirmation option is enabled.
UC Mobile does not support the Multi-call feature.
The Hotel/Motel Suite Services feature is supported by UC Mobile but requires that the Desktop Monitor be set on an individual Suite DN, not on a Pilot DN. Note: Because the key line appearance of the other suite phones is not in use, the Call Hand-off feature only works when the suite of the Desktop Monitor is dialed.
See the Mitel Applications Suite documentation under Applications & Solutions section on the Mitel Customer Documentation website (http://edocs.mitel.com).
See the Feature-Phone Matrix (PDF or Microsoft Excel version) for a list of phones that can use this feature.
