ONS/OPS Circuit Descriptors

Purpose:

The ONS/OPS Circuit Descriptors form assigns signaling and timing parameters to groups of ONS circuits. This form completes the basic hardware definition of ONS lines. The circuit descriptor numbers in this form are required in the Analog Sets form. To complete this form, select the required values under each circuit descriptor number.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

Field Descriptions

Parameter

Description

Default Value

Number

System-generated, protected field. Indicates a valid ONS/OPS circuit descriptor number.

Transmission

Select "Short" or "Long" to indicate the card type to which the circuit descriptor is associated. Select "Short" for ONS lines "Long" for OPS lines.

Short

Flash Type

Permits the assignment of calibrated flash to the circuit. Calibrated flash and ground button parameters are mutually exclusive. Select "Calibrated" or "Normal".

Normal

Low Flash Timer

Enter the minimum duration of a valid switchhook flash. Enter a number between "60" and "500" millisecond (in increments of 10 milliseconds. If Flash Type is set to Calibrated, then the low flash timer must be set to blank.

  • Note: Circuit Descriptor Number 16 is used to program the Low and High Flash Timer parameters for all ONS/OPS circuit cards in SX-200 Bays. The flash timing range for SX-200 Bays is limited to 200 ms to 1500 ms. Entering a value below 200 ms sets the timer to the minimum duration (200 ms) while a value above 1500 ms sets it to the maximum duration (1500 ms).

NA: 200

UK: 60

High Flash Timer

Enter the maximum duration of a valid switchhook flash. Enter a number between "60" and "1500" milliseconds (in increments of 10 milliseconds).

See the Note above for information on programming ONS/OPS circuit cards in SX-200 Bays.

NA: 700 UK: 60

RAD Loop Disconnect Timer

This field applies to OPS lines (the Transmission field is "Long"). Enter the duration of time that loop current will be removed from the circuit and signals a disconnect request to the RAD. The timer range is 50 to 500 milliseconds, in 50 ms increments. Refer to the User Manual provided by the RAD manufacturer to establish the minimum loop current check time required. The field must be blank if the circuit is an ONS line.

If the Transmission field is set to "Long", the Rad Loop Disconnect timer defaults to 350 ms. If the Transmission field is set to "Short", the timer defaults to 0 and the Rad Loop Disconnect Timer field is blank.

Blank

Ground Button

Select "Yes" if the ONS/OPS lines associated to the circuit descriptor support the ground button function. Select "No" to indicate that the line does not support the ground button. This parameter must be disabled if the flash type is set to "Calibrated".

No

Message Waiting Lamp

Select "Yes" if the telephones associated with the circuit descriptor are equipped with message waiting lamps.

The following conditions apply to ONS sets:

  • Message waiting indication is supported on ONS sets that are connected to the ONS CLASS/CLIP line card in the peripheral cabinet.

  • Message waiting indication is supported on ONS sets that are connected to a standalone ASU.

  • Message waiting indication is supported on CLASS sets that are connected to an embedded analog board.

  • Message waiting indication is not supported on standard ONS sets that are connected to an embedded analog board.

  • Note: Message Waiting Lamps are not supported on analog devices that are connected to the Mitel Analog Interface Module or to a controller with embedded analog.

No

Part of a Modem

Not applicable.

Call Announce Line

Not available (COV lines are not supported).

OPS Balance Network Setting

  • Note: Only applicable to OPS circuits in the Peripheral Cabinet.

Select "600" if the balance network is a simple 600 Ohm circuit. Select "Complex" if the balance network is a complex circuit. This field must be blank if a Transmission type of "Short" has been selected.

Blank

Loss Option

This option is only available in Germany. Select "Yes" if the loss option is to be enabled.

No

Positive Disconnect

Only available on an ONS circuit (for applications such as door phones).

No

Positive Disconnect Timer

Only available on an ONS circuit.

500

Ring Frequency

Not applicable. For the Ringing Frequency for each country variant, consult the 3300 ICP Hardware Technical Reference Manual available from the Mitel edocs web site.

Set Type

Not applicable.

ETSI CLASS First Ring Duration:

This (and the next ETSI CLASS) option provide more flexibility for the different ETSI Class sets available in the European market (some of these sets won't display name or number without the new options enabled).

Normal - CLASS is sent 1 sec after first ring burst.

Short - CLASS is sent 300 ms (+/- 50 ms) after first ring burst.

Normal

ETSI CLASS MWI On-Hook Alert Method:

Positive Disconnect -  Positive Disconnect is sent to apply the on-hook non-call related CLASS signalling (for example, MWI)

Ring Burst - applies on-hook, non-call related CLASS signalling (for example, MWI).

Positive Disconnect

  • Notes:

  • In the UK, default values for the switchhook-flash timers, combined with the Ground Button option being set to "Yes", means that the switchhook-flash feature is disabled.

  • ETSI CLASS options are not supported for a peripheral node connected to the 3300.
