L2 STAT SPANNING TREE (L2 STAT ST)

Qualifiers:

None.

Purpose:

Displays Spanning Tree information at the bridge and port level.

Details:

The command output is divided into Bridge information and Port information as follows:

Bridge Information

Time Since Topology Change

The time (in seconds) since the last time a topology change was detected by L2 switch.

Topology Change Count

The total number of topology changes detected by the L2 switch since the controller was last reset or initialized.

Root MAC Address/Priority

The bridge identifier of the spanning tree root as determined by  this node.

Root Path Cost

The path cost from the L2 switch to the root. (0 if root).

Root Port

The number of the port with the least cost to the root (0 if root).

Hello Time

The amount of time (in hundredths of a second) between the transmission of Configuration BPDU (Bridge Protocol Data Unit) A spanning tree protocol (STP) message unit that describes the attributes of a switch port such as its MAC address, priority and cost to reach. BPDUs enable switches that participate in a spanning tree protocol to gather information about each other.s by the L2 switch on any port when it is the root of the spanning tree or trying to become so.

Hold Time

The time interval (in seconds) during which no more than two Configuration BPDU (Bridge Protocol Data Unit) A spanning tree protocol (STP) message unit that describes the attributes of a switch port such as its MAC address, priority and cost to reach. BPDUs enable switches that participate in a spanning tree protocol to gather information about each other.s shall be transmitted by the L2 switch.

Max. Age

The maximum age (in seconds) of Spanning Tree Protocol information learned from the network on any port before it is discarded.

Forward Delay

The amount of time (in seconds) that the Layer 2 switch stays in each of the Listening and Learning states.

Port Information

Priority

The value in the range 0-15 specifying the preference given to this port relative to others for forwarding traffic out of the topology. A higher value means lower priority.

State

A value indicating the state of the port as follows:

disabled(1)

blocking(2)

listening(3)

learning(4)

forwarding(5)

broken(6)

Path Cost

The contribution of this port to the path cost of paths towards the spanning tree root.

Designated Bridge

The ID of the bridge considered to be the Designated Bridge for this port's segment.

Designated Port

The ID of the port on the Designated  Bridge for this port's segment.
