The system continuously monitors the following resources:
memory consumption
memory fragmentation
stale tasks/components.
If a resource passes its threshold, the system displays an alarm in the Alarms Detail view and generates a maintenance log.
Notes:
The system will monitor resources and raise alarms regardless of whether the Programmed Resource Recovery Reboot is enabled or not.
The thresholds are set in the system software. You cannot configure them.
If the task or component is suspended and present in the task and component task restart list, the system will be reset on the Programmed Reboot Resource Recovery time cycle. See Programmed Reboot for more information.
The system performs the following steps while monitoring tasks and components:
If a non-critical task is suspended, a log is generated and Major alarm is raised on the system. If configured, the system will be reset at the next resource monitoring reboot time.
If a critical task is suspended, a log is generated and a critical alarm is raised on the system. The system will reset immediately.
If the amount of free memory becomes less than
10 MB, a minor log is generated and a minor alarm is generated. The alarm is generated to notify the system maintainer that the system should be rebooted. Under normal circumstances, the system should remain up for 2 to 4 days after the alarm is generated. If configured, the system will be reset at the next programmed resource recovery reboot time.
5 MB, a major log is generated and a major alarm is generated. A schedule reboot should be programmed to reboot the system at the end of the day.
2 MB a critical log is generated and a critical alarm is raised on the system. The system resets immediately.
