Embedded BRI for the 3300 ICP means that the BRI software resides on the controller. Programming is performed through the System Administration Tool. The Quad BRI Framer module can be installed in any of the MMC sites in the front panel of the controller to plug into the BRI link.
Each Quad BRI module can support four independent connections to the PSTN over digital trunks. There are no dip switches to set; everything is done through the System Administration Tool.
Embedded BRI implementation eliminates the requirement for a BRI Network Services Unit and a Universal Network Services Unit to support BRI. You no longer use a serial connection and communications software running on a PC for programming. The BRI NSU with Universal NSU BRI implementation requires a Dual FIM on the controller.
Each Quad BRI Framer MMC is an ISDN interface that supports up to four BRI links. Each link supplies 2 B-channels and 1 D-channel. The Quad BRI is only supported in the following countries: UK, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Australia.
Note: Digital link licenses are not required for embedded BRI links.
Support for "S" (subscriber)and "T" (trunk) interfaces. (S interfaces support only basic call features such as calling number display for BRI devices. BRI call handling such as Hold or Transfer is not supported.)
Ports may be independently configured as Line Termination (LT) or Network Termination (NT)
System supplied LT Tone Generation
Point to Point (P2P) and Point to Multi-point (P2MP) per port. (P2MP is used on T interfaces for DID and on S interfaces with multiple (up to 8) BRI terminal devices.)
Automatic Terminal Endpoint ID assignment with Manual override support.
Direct Dial Inward and Multiple Subscriber Number support
Bearer Capabilities, Higher Layer Capabilities, and Calling Line ID Restriction available on a "Fixed" or "Per-Call" basis
Advice of Charge
Support for HLC/LLC/BC transfer. This support allows for the transfer of this information across different digital interfaces; specifically, BRI trunks to a BRI terminal device.
Bearer Capabilities of RDI, UDI, 7.1 kHz, Speech and 3.1 kHz Audio
CPN Substitution
Support for power-save mode on T interfaces. (In power-save mode, the Layer 2 is suspended until a call is placed from the CO or PBX.)
Overlap/en-bloc dialing
Italian "special numbers"
Support for Inward Dialing Prefix Insertion. (This features allows for the insertion of leading digits for International and National Calls on inbound CLI. Some networks strip off these digits.)
