If you have ICPs in your network that are running Release 7.1 UR2 software or lower, you can apply bandwidth management to them, providing the managing system is of a software release version of 8.0 or higher. This condition could occur when a network is being converted to a newer software release in a staged approach.
The following diagram illustrates such a configuration, where the Headquarters Office has been upgraded to release 8.0, while the Regional Office has not yet been upgraded to the current release.
Release 8.0 or Higher System to Release 7.1 UR2 or Lower System
In order to measure the bandwidth utilized between the two regions, you must configure a "Perimeter" zone to separate any pre-8.0 system from the 8.0 system, and measure the bandwidth going to/from the bottleneck.
