Add Elements to Network Elements Form

After planning your networks and clusters, you define the complete network by assigning a system name to the local node and then adding the remote elements to the Network Elements form.

To assign a name to the local element

  1. In the Network Elements form, select the LOCAL element. The element that you are currently logged into is the local element.

  2. Click Change.

  3. Enter a unique system name of up to 9 characters in length for the local element. The name should start with an upper case letter, all other letters lower case (a-z, 0-9, _, and no spaces). The IP address of the local element is displayed in 4 octet format and the "Local" field will be set to True".

  4. Ensure that the "IP Address or FQDN" field is programmed as an IP address. SDS is not supported when a FQDN is entered in this field.

  5. Enter the Zone Number (default 1) for the IP media stream originating or terminating at this network element.

  6. Click the SIP Peer box to designate this network element as a SIP Peer. Complete the SIP Peer fields. Refer to the online help of the form for descriptions of the fields.

  7. Under 3300/SX2000 Properties, click the Member of Cluster box and enter the Cluster Element ID Index for this element.

  8. Click Save. The local element name will be added to the Network Elements form. The Data Sharing field will display "---" to  indicate that the field is not applicable to the local element.

To add the remote elements

  1. In the Network Elements form, click Add.

  2. Enter a unique system name of up to 9 characters in length for the remote element. The name must match the system name that is programmed in the Network Elements form of the remote element.

  3. Select the type of element. SDS is only supported for 3300 ICP type elements. If you set the network element type to an element type other than SX-2000 or 3300 ICP, the Cluster Element ID, Clustered, and Primary Node ID fields will be disabled. These fields only apply to SX-2000 or 3300 ICP systems.

  4. Enter the IP address of the remote element in 4 octet format. The Local node field of remote elements are set to FALSE. Only the system that you are logged into will have this field set to LOCAL.

  5. Ensure that the "IP Address or FQDN" field is programmed as an IP address. SDS is not supported when a FQDN is entered in this field.

  6. Enter the Zone Number (default 1) for the IP media stream originating or terminating at this network element.

  7. Click the SIP Peer box to designate this network element as a SIP Peer. Complete the SIP Peer fields. Refer to the online help of the form for descriptions of the fields.

  8. Under 3300/SX2000 Properties, click the Member of Cluster box and enter the Cluster Element ID Index for this element.

  9. Click Save.

  1. If your network will include a cluster, proceed to Defining the Cluster. If your network does not use clusters, proceed to Define_Administrative_Groups.
