This feature allows external callers to dial through to an extension without having to go through an attendant.
ANSWER PLUS Automatic Attendant directs incoming calls to a Recorded Announcement Device (RAD) that instructs the caller to dial over the announcement to be routed to a specific answer point. Callers who do not dial are routed to the first alternate answer point at the end of the announcement. Calls that are not answered within a programmable time at the first alternate answer point can be rerouted to a second alternate answer point.
ANSWER PLUS Automatic Attendant can be used to:
off-load calls from a busy attendant console
provide menu-driven direct-dial
provide treeing.
Automatic attendant RAD devices connect to ONS ports on the Universal ASU or the Analog Services Unit on the 3300 ICP. Make the RAD Tip and Ring connections in the same manner that the connections are made for a standard station.
If the caller does not have DTMF capability or requires service from the attendant, the caller is routed to the attendant when the RAD's message length timer expires.
Incoming callers who know the station number they wish to reach can bypass the attendant by dialing a feature access code, hunt group number, system abbreviated dial number, or specific station or RAD they wish to reach while listening to the recorded announcement.
To provide menu-driven direct-dial, the front-end announcement informs the caller of the dialing choices for specific services. By dialing during the announcement, the caller is routed to the desired service, station, or RAD.
Callers can be prompted by recorded announcements to enter digits to continue transferring from RAD to RAD.
