You can use the Property Management System (PMS) application to check in and check out hotel room guests via the serial port of the 5550 IP console or the IP-based network port. The check in/check out feature for hotel room messages uses a Mitel proprietary protocol. PMS via the serial port of the 5550 IP Console is NOT Hyatt- or HIS-compatible.
You can use PMS to check in /out an embedded voice mailbox using either the HYATT or HIS protocol. PMS can communicate directly to the 3300 ICP via port number 6830.
IP console is REQUIRED for integrating with PMS for hotel room check in/out for RS-232 connections. The baud rate on the 5550 IP serial port is fixed at 9600, 8N2. Changing the baud rate in the 3300 ICP will not change the baud rate on the serial port of 5550 IP console.
You cannot use the SUPERCONSOLE 1000 or 5540 IP Console to integrate with PMS. The printer port on the SC1000 does not support PMS integration. If you migrate from an SX-2000 system to a 3300 ICP system, your printer port on the SC1000 will not function and cannot be programmed. The 5540 IP Console does not have a printer port.
PMS cannot connect to the 3300 ICP in a clustered hospitality environment. In a Clustered Hospitality environment, the PMS connection must be to the Hospitality Gateway. When a PMS connection is attempted at an ICP that is not the Hospitality Gateway, the attempt is ignored and no response is provided to the PMS. The Hospitality Gateway only supports a single PMS connection at a time.
