Hotline automatically dials a specified answer point when you go off-hook. You can configure any type of single or multi-line phone (ONS, DNIC, or IP Phone) to originate Hotline calls. You can also configure line appearance keys as hotlines and have them terminate on other line appearance keys to provide DSS-type functionality.
The designated answer point can be a
set,
trunk,
Hunt Group,
Personal Ring Group,
line appearance, or
Broadcast Group Directory Number.
Feature access codes (other than Speed Call System) cannot be included as part of the destination digit string.
Hotlines to single line devices cannot be resilient.
SIP devices, such as the 5302 SIP Phone, do not support this feature.
Enter the following parameters in the Associated Directory Numbers form:
Directory Number: originating directory number
Associated Type: Hot Line
Associated Number: destination directory number
To program an analog device to hotline to an external number:
Program an exact ARS route to the external number (for example: 901291436888 with 0 digits to follow).
Program a speedcall to the external number (for example: speedcall 4000 to 901291436888).
In the associated directory number form program the extension number to hotline to the speedcall. For example directory number 2232, Associated Type - Hotline, Associated Number 4000 (speedcall to the external number).

To dial the Hotline destination from a phone (prime line is hotline originator) :
Lift the handset.
To dial the Hotline destination (non-prime line is hotline originator):
Lift the handset.
Press the line appearance key programmed as a hotline.
Note: A hotline call can be initiated in handsfree mode by pressing the line appearance key programmed as a hotline. The originator of the hotline call must have “Multiline Set On Hook Dialing” enabled in its COS.
