The following call scenarios used in the Satellite Office solution are described below:
calls from the Satellite Office IP Phones to the Head Office 3300 ICP
calls to the Satellite Office PSTN (LS lines)
911 calls
calls from the Satellite Office PSTN (LS FXO lines) to the 3300 ICP
calls from the Satellite Office Analog Phones to the 3300 ICP
calls from Satellite Office Analog Phones to the Remote PSTN (LS Lines)
calls from Satellite Office Analog Phones to Remote IP Phones
FAX calls
The 3300 ICP handles calls from the Satellite Office IP phones as MiNet calls.
The LS FXO Gateways control the Remote Loop Start (LS) lines. All calls originating from IP phones in the Head Office or Satellite Office follow the same call routing.
The Head Office 3300 ICP receives the MiNet signalling from the IP Phones (see the diagram below). The 3300 ICP handles these calls based on the Automatic Route Selection (ARS) and routes the call to the appropriate Satellite Office gateway. The Satellite Office gateway directs the call to the proper LS FXO port.
For 911 calls, the 3300 ICP Call Control checks the origin of the call to route it to the selected Satellite Office Gateway. The call is then directed to one of the LS FXO ports. The COR routing determines how the call is routed. The diagram below illustrates 911 calls using COR routing
Only five Satellite Offices can have 911 routing because the route list allows six entries, one being the Head Office. It is recommended that Head Office trunks be used whenever possible.
Remote LS FXO trunks handled by the remote LS FXO Gateway generate SIP calls to the 3300 ICP. It is recommended that the FXO lines be configured as non-dial-in with the answer point defined in the 3300 ICP.
The ONS FXS Gateway has several ONS ports for connecting FAX or analog phones. A call from an analog phone is controlled by the Satellite Office ONS FXS gateway, which then originates a SIP call to the 3300 ICP.
The ONS FXS Gateway controls calls from analog phones and then originates SIP calls to the 3300 ICP. Call Control handles these calls based on ARS and routes the call to the designated Satellite Office LS FXO gateway. The call is then directed to one of the LS FXO ports.
Satellite Office Analog phones and Satellite Office IP Phones can be located in the same remote office. The analog/POTs calls goes to the ONS FXS Gateway, and then to the 3300 ICP as a SIP call. The 3300 ICP returns the call to the remote IP phone as a MiNet call.
To allow FAX calls for the SIP Satellite Office Solution, a SIP/PRI Gateway is configured in the Head Office. This gateway has a Digital trunking interface and a SIP interface.
Each Satellite Office configures a Analog gateway for FAX machines and other devices. The gateway in the Satellite Office is configured to communicate with the gateway in the Head Office. The analog gateways are configured on a per port basis for T.38 functionality. The Satellite Office Analog gateway must be configured to route FAX calls to the SIP/PRI gateway in the Head Office (see the diagram below).
