ARS Digit Modification Plans

Purpose:

The ARS Digit Modification Plans form defines digit modification plans, each identified by a Digit Modification Number. A digit modification plan specifies the number of digits to absorb from the dialed number and the digits to insert during outpulsing. Information elements may be included in the outpulsing sequence to define complex dialing patterns where the system must wait for dial tone at different stages of outpulsing and outpulse account codes or other information elements.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

Field Descriptions

Parameter

Description

Default Value

Digit Modification Number

System-generated, protected field. Indicates numbered entries which are used to link the entry in this form to corresponding entries in the ARS Routes form. The maximum dimensions given by the "Digit Modification Table" is 800.

Number of Digits to Absorb

Enter the number of dialed digits (including leading digits) to be deleted from the dialed number before outpulsing. This value cannot be greater than the total number of digits dialed prior to digit modification. Can be up to 26 digits in length.

 0

Digits to be Inserted

Enter the digits to prefix to the number during outpulsing. This field may be blank, meaning that no digits are to be inserted. Telephony digits 0 through 9 are valid. For DTMF trunks, 0 through 9, *, and # are valid. The maximum number of characters in this field is 36.

  • To suppress a system account code, default account code, node id, extension number, or marker from SMDR, enclose those digits in private string brackets. Private string brackets cannot enclose a tone plan marker. Private string brackets cannot be nested (e.g. {123{345}}).

  • A Tone Marker may be included as a pointer to an entry in the ARS Call Progress Tone Detection form. To use a tone marker, follow these conventions:

  • <Tnn> - where T indicates a tone marker and nn is a Tone Plan Number (from 0 to 99). Each tone marker occupies three digits and must be counted in the 36-digit limit.

  • An Account Code Marker may be included as a pointer to an entry in the System Account Codes form. To use an Account Code Marker, follow these conventions:

  • <Ann> - where A indicates a system account code marker and nn is an Account Code Index number. Each account code marker occupies three digits and must be counted in the 36-digit limit.

If your system uses the Advanced Analog Network feature, you can insert the following information elements into the outpulsed digit string:

  • <E> - where E specifies the caller's extension number. When this number is inserted in the outpulsing string, the user's extension number is inserted as per the internal dialing plan. The extension number can be up to seven digits long. When networking with another system at the other end of the line, the "#" digit is required to terminate the extension number. In such cases the proper entry sequence is <E># where # is the terminating character.

  • <d> - where d is the caller's dialed or default account code. The number of account code digits in this field must be identical to the number of account code digits present in the user's account code. If no dialed account code exists and no default account code is programmed against the caller's station then no digits are outpulsed. When networking with another system at the other end of the line, the "#" digit is required to terminate the account code number. In such cases the proper entry sequence is <d># where # is the terminating character.

  • <N> - where N is the system Node ID. When this marker is encountered, the primary programmed node ID of the system is outpulsed to the called extension's system. If no node ID is programmed, nothing is outpulsed. A node ID can be up to seven digits long.

  • <R> - where R is the call forward reason. The call forward reasons are Always, Busy-Internal, Busy-External, No Answer - Internal, and No Answer - External.

  • <F> - where F is the call forwarder's extension number. This information marker sends the forwarder's address to the voice box allowing the voice mailbox to identify the individual mailbox to play the individual greeting.

  • Note: See the Advanced Analog Network feature for programming examples

Blank

Final Tone Plan/Information Marker

Enter either a tone marker or an account code marker, as specified above. This entry may be up to 16 characters in length. This final marker will be appended to the digits outpulsed. Account code and default account code markers are the only private strings allowed in this field. More than one marker may appear side by side, indicating that the system is to detect multiple tones in sequence before resuming outpulsing.
