Enabling FAX Tone Detection
(Embedded Voice Mail)

Overview:

FAX Finder uses the automated attendant to detect and route fax calls, eliminating the need for dedicated fax lines. Using FAX Finder also benefits callers as they only need to dial one number for both voice and fax calls.

When FAX Finder is enabled through the VM Fax Detection, the system automatically configures the fax extension as a 'transfer-only' mailbox. When a fax call comes in, the auto attendant transfers the call to that extension. If the receiving fax machine is busy when a new FAX call comes in, the sending fax machine hears a busy signal.

To set FAX Finder using the System Administration Tool:

  1. In the VM Fax Detection form:
    -
To enable FAX Finder, select the Enable Fax Tone Detection box.
    - To disable FAX Finder, clear the Enable Fax Tone Detection box.

  2. If you are enabling FAX Finder, enter the FAX Mailbox Number of the fax machine.

To set FAX Tone Detection using the Administrator's Mailbox:

  1. Access the Administrator's Mailbox.

  2. Press [5] for the System Parameters menu.

  3. Press [3] for the Set FAX Extension' menu.

  4. To enable FAX Finder, press [1]. To disable FAX Finder, press [2].

  5. If you are enabling FAX Finder, enter the FAX extension number.
