Using Range Programming

Overview:

Range programming simplifies the addition, modification, or deletion of repetitive or incremental values. For example, you can add a range of Multiline IP Sets entries including Device Type, Incremental Numbers, and Interconnect Number with only a few keystrokes. To add a one or more records:

  1. Access the supported form in the System Administration Tool.

  2. Click Add.

  3. In the Add Range Programming window, enter the number of records to be added and the add pattern. Adding more than one record will enable an Increment by text box.

  4. Click Save to commit the data. For multiple adds, you will be presented with a window indicating that range programming is executing followed by a Range Programming completed window. If the Save fails you will be presented with a failure message window.

  5. Click Cancel to close the Add Range Programming window.

To change a one or more records:

  1. Access the supported form in the System Administration Tool.

  2. Select the start record. This is the first, or only, record that you want to change.

  3. Click Change.

  4. Enter the number of records to change.

  5. Select the Change action. A value will be placed in the Value to change column unless you have selected Leave all unchanged.

  6. Enter a new value in the Value to change column.

  7. If you have selected Increment by, enter a value in the Increment by column.

  8. Click Save, Preview, or Cancel.

To delete a one or more records:

  1. Access the form in the System Administration Tool.

  2. Select the first record in the range to be deleted. You can delete a single (default) or multiple records.

  3. Specify the number of records to be deleted.

  4. Click Delete, Preview, or Cancel.

To preview the add, change, or delete programming:

  1. Enter a range of data in form.

  2. Click Preview to see a sample of the range programming data entered.

  3. Click Save to commit, Previous to return to the Add Range Programming window, or Cancel to close the Range Programming window.
