Using Multi-Record Editing (MRE)

Multi-Record Editing (MRE) gives system administrators a tool to make multiple changes to the data records associated with a particular form instance.

Function buttons, located at the top of the ESM interface, supporting MRE capability are:

Change Page

Change the data currently visible on the page. This button applies only to views that are paged.

Change All

For a paged view, change all the data at one time.

For a non-paged view,  change all the data currently visible.

Change Page Members

Similar to the 'Change Page' button, except that it changes all the data currently visible on a page of data.

Change All Members

Similar to the 'Change All' button, except it changes all data within a particular view, or across all pages of a view, or for non-paged views, across the entire view.

Copy Keys

Allows you to copy key assignments programmed on one DN to one or more DNs. Similar to "Change All Members" and "Change Page Members", except that you can select one or all buttons (keys) to copy, and you also specify the DNs to copy keys to. Available only from the Multiline Set Keys form. For information about copying keys, see Copying Key Assignments.

When a user clicks on one of the change buttons for a form that supports MRE, the system displays the MRE Form window in which the user can define the change pattern.

The following functions are available in the MRE Form window:

Save

Initiates the save changes process. A status window is displayed.

If an error is detected during a Save operation, the progress status window closes and an error alert is displayed.

Click OK to return to the MRE Form and correct the errors.

When the errors are corrected, click the Resume Save button.

Resume Save

Toggles with the Save button when errors are encountered during the Save operation. This allows a system administrator to return to the MRE Form, make required corrections,  and then continue the Save operation.

Cancel

Cancels the MRE Form and returns to the ESM form.

  • Note: Does not undo any changes already made in the database as the result of a Copy operation.

Copy

Commits changes to the database.

Resume Copy

Toggles with the Copy button when errors are encountered during a Copy operation. This allows a system administrator to make the required changes and then continue the Copy operation.
