Voice Mail Diagnostics and Maintenance

The following maintenance commands are used ensure proper functioning of the voice mail system and to isolate problems that may occur.

Voice Mail Port Status

STAT <location ID>  reports the busy/idle status of voice mail ports.

For a 20-port voice mail system, the voice mail port IDs are:
1-4-27-1 to 1-4-27-16 and 1-4-28-1 to 1-4-28-4.

For a 30-port voice mail system, the voice mail port IDs are:
1-4-27-1 to 1-4-27-16 and 1-4-28-1 to 1-4-28-14.

For a 10-port voice mail system, the voice mail port IDs are:
1-4-27-1 to 1-4-27-10.

Voice Mail Backup and Restore

Backup procedure copies the system and voice mail database to a designated file on a network drive or on to a hard drive. Performing backups at regular intervals ensures that, in the unlikely event of a system failure, some or all of the database is recoverable.

The voice files will be encrypted during a backup operation and decrypted during a restore operation for security reasons.

Restore procedure restores a previously saved database.
