SDS - Splitting a Data-Sharing Cluster

Each cluster is assigned a Global Unique Identifier (GUID). This GUID is used by the system software to identify the cluster and does not appear in any of the System Administration Tool forms.  Before a data-sharing voice cluster can be split into two distinct SDS clusters, you must reset the Global Unique Identifier (GUID) on one of the existing cluster elements. There are two procedures that you can use:

To split a data-sharing cluster

  1. Log into an element that will, after you split the cluster, belong to the smaller of the two clusters. In this procedure, cluster A is defined as the smaller cluster, and element A1 is defined as a member of cluster A.

  2. Ensure that the elements are sharing data with each other and then turn SDS off and then on again on each element that will belong to cluster A.

  3. Access the System Options form.

  4. Click Change.

  5. Set the System Data Synchronization option to No to disable SDS. When the option is set to No, data sharing with any other system is not possible.

  6. Click Save.

  1. Reset the Global Unique Identifier (GUID):

    Option 1 (preferred):

Option 2:

  1. From the member of cluster A where the cluster GUID has been reset, start sharing with all its cluster members.

  2. Update the cluster name and PNI if necessary.

  3. Remove the elements that you do not want to belong to cluster A from the Cluster Elements form of each member element of cluster A. Note the you must remove the dependent data (CEID Index, CEID Digits, Feature DN number, Remote Directory Number entries, and ARS programming). Then, remove the elements that you do not want to belong to cluster B from the Cluster Elements for each member of cluster B.
