The Local Notification feature allows you to program the system to send emergency call notifications to one or more attendant consoles, display-equipped DNIC and IP sets, or ONS CLASS/CLIP sets when an emergency call is detected. When an emergency call is made, a local notification record (emergency call notification) is generated. A designated attendant or display-set user can then use a softkey button or feature access code to view the following details:
The caller's directory number.
Special instructions
that are programmed for the DN in the Comments field of the CESID
Assignment form.
If the comments field in the CESID Assignment form for an IP phone
is blank, the system displays the name of the emergency caller on the
attendant console or display set. However, if the comments field is blank
for an ONS CLASS/CLIP phone, the system displays "No Data".
The date and time of the call.
Note: CLASS/CLIP sets do not have a softkey/feature key function. Therefore, that CLASS/CLIP set that is designated to receive local emergency call notification will receive the same information listed above, automatically.
For information about which consoles and sets support the Local Notification feature, see Emergency Services - Local Notification Conditions.
In a clustered environment, local notification is triggered on each system where the call travels using a predetermined Emergency route. Attendants, display sets, or ONS CLASS/CLIP sets that are connected to each triggered system and that have the appropriate COS options enabled, receive the local notification. Local notification details can be accessed by one designated attendant or display set user connected to each triggered system. An emergency call follows the established route assigned in the ARS Routes form. If the call passes through a system using a route that is not designated as an emergency route, no local emergency call notification is generated, and the designated attendants, display-set users, or ONS CLASS/CLIP set users are not notified of the emergency call.
A CLASS/CLIP set displays local notification details regardless of whether or not a designated attendant or display-set user is accessing the current notification data. In a multiple emergency call notification situation, if a non-busy CLASS/CLIP set goes off-hook to acknowledge receiving a local notification, it will automatically be presented with the next local notification in the queue when it goes back on-hook.
The local notification must be cleared from each triggered system.
Every emergency call that is made is supported. A maximum of 32 local notification records can be buffered and saved for viewing. If all 32 records are occupied, the next emergency call notification overrides the oldest notification record. If this occurs, a maintenance log is generated. Notifications must be cleared on each triggered system.
Maintenance Logs are generated when
An emergency call occurs. This log identifies where the call originated.
An emergency call is cleared. This log identifies where the call originated.
The local notification record is cleared. This log identifies which device cleared the record.
There are more than 32 local notification records. This log identifies that old notification data has been overwritten.
When a designated CLASS/CLIP set that is receiving local notification goes off-hook to acknowledge reception of the notification (this is the mechanism used by a CLASS/CLIP set user to acknowledge reception of the notification and to also stop the notification). A maintenance log is generated to identify the user originating the acknowledgement.
