If an attendant or display-set user views the local notification details for more than 1 minute without taking any action at the console or display set, the emergency call information becomes available to other designated attendants or digital display set users. Emergency Services Operation on ONS Sets

The audio emergency call notification on the idle set will be the same ring cadence that is used on a regular call. Because there is no distinguishing ring, the set must support Caller Name Identity (CNAM) and have a Class of Service with CNAM enabled in order to determine that the call is an emergency call.

To respond to an emergency call notification during idle state:

  1. Go off-hook to stop the ringing and acknowledge the emergency call. (Caller identification information is sent after the first ring.)

  2. This acknowledgement will terminate the notification on all of the CLASS/CLIP sets designated as emergency call monitor devices.

  3. After receiving the caller ID information but before acknowledgement by going off-hook, the set is placed in a Do Not Disturb state to prevent interruption. The DND state is removed after the notification process to the CLASS/CLIP set ends.

  4. Note: In the case of multiple emergency call notifications, acknowledgement will temporarily stop the ringing, and then it will ring again and present the next emergency call in the queue.

To respond to an emergency call notification during busy state:

  1. If the set supports Calling Identity Delivery on Call Waiting (CIDCW) and the feature is enabled the set's Class of Service, the user will hear the alert tone.

  2. The alert tone is followed by the campon tone.

  3. Finally, the display will present the waiting party information.

  4. If possible, terminate the current call and go on-hook. If the emergency call is still present, the user will receive the notification again.

  5. Follow the idle state handling procedures, described above.

  6. Note: In the case of multiple emergency call notifications, the busy set is presented with the first emergency call notification only.
