Attendant CAS Interface

Description:

Centralized Attendant Service (CAS) Interface allows the system to be a remote node for a CAS site. CAS is an attendant call-handling service that is provided at a central office switch for calls from both public and private networks.

The system routes calls to the CAS attendants over E&M release link trunks (RLT). The E&M RLT is released from the call path once the CAS attendant transfers the call. The system also generates call progress tones that allow the CAS attendants to identify the type of incoming call.

Answering Dial Zero Calls

Two short bursts of tone indicate to an attendant that a call has originated from the system (calls from stations or tie trunks). Upon answering the call, the CAS attendant receives a brief period of silence followed by the two tones. The attendant is then connected with the caller.

Answering LDN Calls

Upon answering an LDN call from the public network (a call arriving on a central office trunk), the CAS attendant is immediately connected with the caller.

Transferring Calls from the CAS attendant

To transfer an active call:

  1. Press a flash key.

  2. Dial the number of the requested party.

  3. If you hear busy tone, press the flash key to reconnect to the call on hold.

  4. If you hear camp-on confirmation tone, do one of the following:

  5. To camp the caller onto the busy destination, release the call.

  6. To cancel the transfer, press the flash key.

  1. If you hear ringback, wait for an answer, consult, and release.

Reconnecting to a Held Party

To reconnect to an LDN call on hold:

If you have a party on hold and are on a call, you will release the current call and connect to the held party when you press the flash key.

LDN Recalls to CAS Attendants

LDN calls that recall CAS attendants via the system are also identified. Upon answering a recall from no answer, the attendant hears a short burst of ringing before being connected to the recalling party. Upon answering a recall from camp-on, the attendant receives a brief period of silence followed by a single tone before being connected to the call.

To release the non-answering call:

To return the caller to waiting for answer from the previous enquiry destination (the system restarts the recall timers and repeats the recall procedures on time-out):

Transferring Calls to the CAS Attendant

To transfer a call from a station to the CAS attendant:

  1. Place the call on Consultation Hold.

  2. Dial the CAS attendant.
Upon answering the call, the attendant receives a brief period of silence followed by the two short bursts of tone. The attendant is then connected with the station user.

  3. Hang up.
