Centralized Attendant Service (CAS) Interface allows the system to be a remote node for a CAS site. CAS is an attendant call-handling service that is provided at a central office switch for calls from both public and private networks.
The system routes calls to the CAS attendants over E&M release link trunks (RLT). The E&M RLT is released from the call path once the CAS attendant transfers the call. The system also generates call progress tones that allow the CAS attendants to identify the type of incoming call.
Calls originating in either the public or private network are routed via outgoing only E&M RLTs to the CAS site. The system routes calls to the CAS site by using ARS and trunk answer point programming.
Calls that are transferred by the CAS attendant to another node in the private network will not recall the attendant.
An E&M RLT cannot be placed on hold, cannot swap held and connected parties, and must not have broker's call enabled.
A conference call cannot include an E&M RLT.
Conversation over ringback is not provided for recall from no answer.
Dial zero calls transferred to a busy station will not recall from the camped-on state.
Enter a unique trunk service descriptor number for the E&M CAS trunks in the E&M Trunk Circuits Descriptors form.
Enter the following parameters in the E&M Trunk Circuits Descriptors form:
Incoming and Outgoing Parameters:
Disconnect Timer (150-900 ms) 350; see Note below
Incoming Parameters:
Minimum Flash Timer (100-250 ms) 275
Maximum Flash Timer (200-800 ms) 325
Supervision Parameters:
Fake Answer Supervision After Outpulsing (Yes/No) No
Ignore Answer Supervision (Yes/No) No
Release Supervision Expected (Yes/No) Yes
Audio Inhibit Until Answer Supervision (Yes/No) No
Drop Digit Rcvr for Outgoing Audio Before Ans Sup
(Yes/No) No
Note: The disconnect timer must be greater than the maximum flash timer. Supervision parameters must be entered as shown above.
Program a trunk service number with the RLT field set to "E&M" in the Trunk Attributes form. Leave the Answer Point and Digit Modification columns blank since the trunks are outgoing only.
Assign the trunk service number and the trunk circuit descriptor number to the E&M trunks in the Digital Trunks form.

Two short bursts of tone indicate to an attendant that a call has originated from the system (calls from stations or tie trunks). Upon answering the call, the CAS attendant receives a brief period of silence followed by the two tones. The attendant is then connected with the caller.
Upon answering an LDN call from the public network (a call arriving on a central office trunk), the CAS attendant is immediately connected with the caller.
To transfer an active call:
Press a flash key.
Dial the number of the requested party.
If you hear busy tone, press the flash key to reconnect to the call on hold.
If you hear camp-on confirmation tone, do one of the following:
To camp the caller onto the busy destination, release the call.
To cancel the transfer, press the flash key.
If you hear ringback, wait for an answer, consult, and release.
To reconnect to an LDN call on hold:
Press the flash key.
If you have a party on hold and are on a call, you will release the current call and connect to the held party when you press the flash key.
LDN calls that recall CAS attendants via the system are also identified. Upon answering a recall from no answer, the attendant hears a short burst of ringing before being connected to the recalling party. Upon answering a recall from camp-on, the attendant receives a brief period of silence followed by a single tone before being connected to the call.
To release the non-answering call:
Press the Flash key.
To return the caller to waiting for answer from the previous enquiry destination (the system restarts the recall timers and repeats the recall procedures on time-out):
Press the Release key.
To transfer a call from a station to the CAS attendant:
Place the call on Consultation Hold.
Dial the CAS attendant.
Upon answering the call, the attendant receives a brief period of silence
followed by the two short bursts of tone. The attendant is then connected
with the station user.
Hang up.
