ARS Leading Digits

Purpose:

The Automatic Route Selection (ARS) Leading Digits form initiates the routing of trunk calls when certain digits are dialed from a station. A number of forms can be used to arrange digit strings into groups, each group with unique set of Leading Digits. For example, an ARS assignment for the Leading Digits 9416 (the trunk access code "9" plus the area code "416") might list in the Digits Dialed field all office codes within the 416 area code.

Description

Default Value

Leading Digits

Leading digits is a read-only field that displays leading digits that were specified in the ARS Digits Dialed form.

Second Dial Tone

Select "Yes" to enable second dial tone after the Leading Digits have been dialed.

Select "No" to disable second dial tone.

Select "Alternate" to hear dial tone from the CO after the ARS route is selected.

"Alternate" Second Dial Tone will permit a user to receive trunk seizure confirmation before dialing all digits. This is useful when trunk to extension ratio is such that trunks are often busy. If the digits a user dials, after receiving CO dial tone, are permitted and COR is satisfied then the digits will be sent to the Central Office and the call proceeds. After receiving dial tone, if a user dials digits that are COR restricted then the call is denied, the trunk is dropped, and the system provides Toll Denial - Route Digits intercept handling to the caller.

No

COR Group Number

Enter a COR Group Number to impose a COR check on the calling device as soon as the Leading Digits are received. The COR Group Number is defined in the Class of Restriction Groups form where the Classes of Restriction that do NOT have access to the routes are listed.
