LAN Policy (QoS)

Purpose:

The LAN Policy form provides quality of service configuration using Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) or DiffServ. It allows you to give priority to voice media and voice signaling traffic and to map DSCP to Layer 2 (L2) about LAN Policy, see the 3300 ICP Engineering Guidelines.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

Field Descriptions

DSCP [0-63]

L2 Priority [0-7]

Voice Media

Enter the Differentiated Services Code Point Value (0-63) for voice streaming and signaling. This value should match the value programmed for DHCP Option 43 and 125.

The defaults are 46 for voice media and 26 for voice signaling.

  • Note: If you want the L2 Priority settings for the voice media and voice signaling to be different, then the DSCP values must also be different.

  • Note: The Voice Signaling value is applied to health check messages that are sent between resilient 3300 controllers.

Enter the voice VLAN priority (0-7) for expedited forwarding of voice traffic. The controller will apply the voice priority to traffic originating from the System IP address. This priority should match the voice priority programmed on the external L2 switches as well as the value programmed for DHCP Option 43 and 125. Note that the data VLAN default is 1.

The defaults are 6 for voice media and 3 for voice signaling.
