You can export data from most forms in the System Administration Tool into a
text file (.txt): readable by any text editor
comma separated file (.csv): comma-delimited file also readable by any text editor
This feature is valuable if you need to update another application with data from the 3300 ICP. For example, you could export the telephone directory entries from the Telephone Directory form to a .csv file and then run a software script to import the file into a third-party application.
Notes:
Not all forms support the exporting of data and not all forms support all the export options. If options are not supported for a form, they will be disabled ("grayed out") in the export dialog window.
If the maximum number of clustered elements is set to 250 in the License and Option Selection form, the Export All function will be disabled for the Telephone Directory and VM Network Users forms.
For security, passwords and PINs in exported forms (such as the User and Device Configuration form) are masked using asterisks in the export file. On import, the passwords and PINs are preserved but only if the user associated with them still exists in the system database. If the user was deleted from the database after the export, the password and PIN get converted to asterisks on import. As only the digits 0-9 are allowed in passwords and PINs, the system responds with an error and stops the user from being added to the database. To successfully add the user, the import file would have had to contain a valid password or PIN.
You can also export System Diagnostics to a .tar file. See System Diagnostics Reporting.
You will need a text editor or word processor installed on your client station in order to manipulate the exported data.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use Microsoft Excel to edit data exported in .csv format if you intend to import the data into the 3300 ICP. Excel's handling of certain data in the export file may cause the Import to fail. Export the file again in .txt format or use a text editor to edit the .csv file.
Note: You may need to change the security settings in Internet Explorer to allow the export file to download. If you get the message "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options" follow these instructions:
Click Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted sites > Sites.
Enter the 3300 IP address as: https://<IP Address>
Click Add
Click Close.
Click Custom level... and enable the following options:
ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls
Downloads > Automatic prompting for file downloads
Click OK, and then OK again to save the changes.
Exit Internet Explorer, and then restart it.

CAUTION: Depending on the amount and type of data being exported, there could be a significant delay before the Save As dialog box is displayed. While data is being retrieved from the system database, other users cannot access or use the Desktop Tool, the Group Administration Tool, or the System Administration Tool.
After the File Download dialog box appears, click Save. Do not click Open. After the system retrieves the data, the Save As dialog box appears.
Navigate to a folder on your computer drive or on a network drive.
If desired, change the
filename. By default, files are given filenames that use the following
format:
