This feature enables ONS CLASS/CLIP sets using the CLASS/CLIP protocol to receive Caller Line Identification Delivery information.
Presentation (CLIP) in the UK, Station Side Software Support feature allows ONS CLASS/CLIP sets using CLASS/CLIP protocol to receive Caller Line Identification Delivery (CLID) information and the time and date of a call.
ONS CLASS/CLIP sets can be in a ringing state (on-hook) while receiving CLID information, the time and date. As well, some ONS CLASS/CLIP sets support CLID while in a talking state with a waiting call (off-hook).
CLASS sets in an on-hook state receive CLID information between the first and second ring. CLIP sets in an on-hook state receive CLID information prior to the first ring.
If the Calling Name Display - Internal - ONS and ONS CLASS/CLIP: Set COS options are enabled, then the calling party's name, and the time and date of the call appear on the ONS CLASS/CLIP set. If the calling party's name is private or unavailable, then the display is dependent on the set.
For CLASS functionality, Calling Name supports a maximum of 15 characters. For CLIP functionality, Calling Name supports a maximum of 20 characters. DPNSS calls support a maximum of 16 characters for Calling Name.
ONS CLASS/CLIP sets can receive Calling Name and Calling Number information at the same time if the set supports these features and both COS options are enabled.
If the Calling Number Display - Internal - ONS and ONS CLASS/CLIP: Set COS options are enabled, then the calling party's number, and the time and date of the call appear on the ONS CLASS/CLIP set. If the calling party's number is private or unavailable, then the display is dependent on the set.
For CLASS functionality, Calling Number supports a maximum of 10 characters. For CLIP functionality, Calling Number supports a maximum of 22 characters, including 15 digits and some punctuation (i.e. blanks; dashes). DPNSS calls support a maximum of 16 characters for Calling Number.
ONS CLASS/CLIP sets can receive Calling Number and Calling Name information at the same time if the set supports these features and both COS options are enabled.
A clear memory feature is available to ONS CLASS/CLIP sets that support this feature and are programmed as a Guest Room extension or that have the following COS options enabled:
ONS CLASS/CLIP: Set
Calling Name Display - Internal - ONS and/or Calling Number Display - Internal - ONS.
The clear memory feature erases previously received CLID information to maintain privacy. When a room is checked out, the memory is erased. Rooms can be checked out using an SC1000 console or PMS.
The message waiting feature allows you to activate or deactivate the message waiting lamp on an ONS CLASS/CLIP set. If enabled, the message waiting lamp will turn on when the set receives a message waiting signal. If disabled, the lamp will not turn on when a message is received.
Note that the message waiting feature functions regardless of the setting of the COS option, only the message waiting lamp functionality is disabled.
The following conditions apply to ONS sets:
Message waiting indication is supported on ONS sets that are connected to the ONS CLASS/CLIP line card in the peripheral cabinet.
Message waiting indication is supported on ONS sets that are connected to a standalone ASU.
Message waiting indication is supported on CLASS sets that are connected to an embedded analog board.
Message waiting indication is not supported on standard ONS sets that are connected to an embedded analog board.
ONS CLASS/CLIP sets that support visual call waiting show CLID information while in a talking state with a waiting call (off-hook).
CLASS Station Side Software Support requires an ONS CLASS/CLIP line card, a Universal ASU, an ASU, or embedded analog.
BT CLIP for the UK is only supported on the ONS CLASS CLIP Card in the peripheral cabinet.
To support ONS CLASS/CLIP when the peripheral cabinet is used, one or more DSPs must be programmed as FSK generators in the PSC DSP Selection form.
If a call is originated on a line with multiple directory numbers, the caller's prime directory number is displayed.
An Alternative Recording Device (ARD) set may not receive CLID information because an ARD set is not seizable.
For Call Forward, CLID information is sent to the set that receives the forwarded call, if that set has CLID service.
For Call Pickup, CLID information is available on the called extension only.
For Camp-on (Call Waiting), if the ONS CLASS/CLIP set hangs up after a call waiting tone is received, the waiting party rings back and CLID information is sent. If the ONS CLASS/CLIP set hangs up after swapping to a Camp-on call, then the held party rings back; however, the held party's CLID information is not available.
For a Wake-up Call, the directory number of the receiving extension is displayed.
If a Recorded Announcement Device (RAD) is not going to use CLID information, then, to save resources, it is recommended that you do not provide the RAD with CLID information.
For Voice Mail, CLID information appears on the receiving set after the voice mail has been activated. If voice mail is not going to use CLID information, then, to save resources, it is recommended that you do not provide voice mail with CLID information.
