Handsfree Answerback allows a telephone to automatically establish a handsfree call when it receives an Off-hook Voice Announce from a telephone making a Direct Page.
The Handsfree Answerback feature is enabled in CDE, and can be turned on and off by pressing the Microphone or Mute key on the paged telephone. The Microphone or Mute LED turns on to indicate that the feature is ready for use. When an Off-hook Voice Announcement is received, the paged telephone will support two calls: one on the handset/headset, the other handsfree.
Handsfree Answerback is only available on some phones; see Feature Availability below for more information.
For the 5212 IP Phone, 5224 IP Phone, 5312 IP Phone, 5320 IP Phone, 5324 IP Phone, 5330 IP Phone, 5340 IP Phone, 5360 IP Phone, and Navigator, the Handsfree Answerback feature is enabled in the System Administration Tool, and can be turned on and off by pressing the Mute key on the paged telephone. The Mute LED flashes to indicate that the feature is ready for use.
Note: If you are engaged in a Handsfree conversation with another caller, or if Mute is enabled when a Direct Page is received, Direct Page does not interrupt your call. The party paging you receives a busy tone.
To allow a handsfree call to be set up in response to a Direct Page, the paged telephone must not have a call on soft hold, be engaged in a handsfree call, or be dialing. Also, a handsfree call cannot be set up if Do Not Disturb is activated, or if the paged telephone is engaged in a Conference Call.
To allow a handsfree call to be automatically set up in response to a Direct Page, enable Handsfree Answerback Allowed in the Class of Service Options form.
See the Feature-Phone Matrix (PDF or Microsoft Excel version) for a list of phones that can use this feature.
