Station Message Detailed Accounting (SMDA)

Description:

Station Message Detailed Accounting (SMDA) lets the system process data collected for trunk calls. You can use this data for billing and evaluating purposes.

Station Message Detailed Accounting (SMDA) lets the system accumulate meter pulses (up to an assigned buffer size) that can be read, printed, and cleared from a console. You can collect meter pulses by using either a device (device meter unit accumulation) or an account code (account code meter unit accumulation).

Device Meter Unit Accumulation accumulates any meter units that are accounted against ONS stations, DNIC line devices, attendant devices, or trunk devices. Each device can accumulate a maximum of 65535 meter units. If this total is exceeded, the number remains at 65535 until it is cleared. Meter units collected for a typical outgoing trunk call will be added to both the station's meter unit totals and the trunk's meter unit totals.

Account Code Meter Unit Accumulation accumulates any meter units that are accounted against an individual account. Each account code can accumulate a maximum of 65535 meter units. If this total is exceeded, the number remains at 65535 until it is cleared. When an independent account is used, all three registers (the account code meter unit register, the station meter unit register, and the trunk meter unit register) will increment. The use of independent account codes to register accountability back to a department or client account number is also tracked.
