IP Consoles

Purpose:

The IP Consoles form is used to

The form is used to assign directory numbers and interconnect numbers to all attendant console line circuits in the system. All line circuits are listed in ascending order. Assign the required directory number, softkey appearance, and interconnect number to each circuit.

The form contains a Media Access Control (MAC) address aligned with a Device ID. This assignment registers the IP devices to the system. If NO relation exists for a MAC address to an identifier, the set will not be recognized by the system and therefore will not boot up.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

Parameter

Description

Default Value

Home Element

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the Home element for the IP Console.  When you add a new IP Console, you add it to the local element. The local element is the device's home element.

Secondary Element

To enable device resiliency, select the name of the secondary element for the IP Console from the drop-down list.  The drop-down list only contains the names of elements that are members of the RDN Synchronization cluster.

You can only configure resiliency for an IP Console from the console's local (home) element. However, after you have created a resilient console, you can modify its parameters from the secondary element. The modifications are distributed to the  console's primary element via SDS.

Device ID

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the attendant console.

Device Type

Select the attached device type, either 5540 IP or 5550 IP.

5540 IP

Directory Number

Enter a number up to seven digits in length assigned to the line circuit. This number represents the directory number. This number will be assigned to the corresponding softkey for the call answer feature.

  • The directory numbers used for answering trunk calls are assigned in the Trunk Attributes form as non-dial-in trunk answer points. If the same number is assigned to different consoles, this implicitly defines a broadcast group.

Blank

Local-only DN

Allows you to specify the directory number as a local-only directory number in a cluster. This field only appears in the form if your system has been migrated to support Remote Directory Number Synchronization.

Softkey Appearance

Select a number between 2 and 7, that indicates the softkey on which call indications to the set are to appear. The softkeys are numbered 1 through 7 from left to right. The first softkey is reserved for recall appearances and cannot be programmed.

Blank

Interconnect Number

Enter a number, between 1 and 64, that references an entry in the Interconnect Restriction Table where the interconnect numbers for the workstation are defined.

Blank

Language

System-generated, protected field. Indicates the language in use on an attendant console.

MAC Address

Enter the MAC address which uniquely identifies each IP device.

Blank

Tenant Number

Enter the number of the console's tenant.
