Networked Voice Mail supports the following network configurations:
The WAN/LAN must have adequate bandwidth to support Networked Voice Mail (see Planning for Networked Voice Mail).
In a distributed voice mail configuration, each node has its own embedded voice mail server. This means that:
Each voice mail node has a different hunt group number.
Each voice mail node has its own Auto Attendant.
When calling from outside the network: to access a mailbox that is not on the same node as the main number, users must first transfer to the Auto Attendant of the desired node by entering its hunt group number.
For resilient users, the users' voice mail server must be on their extension's primary ICP.
In this example, the 3300 ICPs are in a cluster, with a PNI of 560.

In a centralized voice mail configuration, one or more nodes serve as central voice mail servers. This means that:
Each ICP must be programmed to forward voice mail calls to the appropriate voice mail server trunk.
The extension associated with the mailboxes must not match those on other ICPs.
Users must use the telephone interface to program Forward to Email.
The users' voice mail servers must be different from their extension's primary ICP.
Note: Networked Voice Mail does not apply when there is only one voice mail server (single node).
In this example, the 3300 ICPs are in a cluster, and share the same PNI.
