Front End Messaging routes the incoming calls to a RAD before the call is rerouted to a hunt group or an answering point. This feature could be used by a ski hill, for example, to handle incoming calls from skiers inquiring about skiing conditions. The ski condition report is recorded onto a RAD and the RAD answers the call and plays the message. For callers requiring additional information, the message can conclude by telling callers to "please hold". The caller is then routed to an agent or answering point.
Front End Messaging has two applications:
Information Service Only - where the caller is disconnected at the end of the message.
Introductory Message with an Answer Point - where the caller is routed to a recorded announcement device (RAD) before the call is rerouted to a hunt group or answering point. This feature could be used by airline reservations where a recording informs the caller that all lines are currently busy and to remain on the line to maintain queue position.
