Verified Account Codes let you access features that are not normally available at a station. You enter Verified Account Codes before making a call to change the COS and COR at any station. When you hang up, the station returns to normal.
SMDR can track the use of Verified Account Codes for long-distance billing purposes. Account Codes can be reported in Internal SMDR logs.
Non-verified Account Codes let you enter codes on the SMDR record for billing and/or call management. During a call, you can enter Non-verified Account Codes as often as required.
Both Verified and Non-verified Account Codes can be Fixed Length. If an Account Code is Fixed Length, it is automatically submitted to the system when the correct number of digits have been entered.
Both Verified and Non-verified Account Codes can be Forced. With Forced Verified Account Codes, you must enter the account code as soon as the phone is off-hook. With Forced Non-verified Account Codes, you must enter the account code after you dial the phone number.
You can program the system to avoid the requirement of entering a Forced Non-verified Account Code when making a call that must not be charged. For example, you may dial a leading digit (e.g. "8") to make a call without entering an account code, and dial a leading digit (e.g. "9") to make a call that requires an account code.
For security, you can program the system to mask account codes with asterisks on display phones.
Account Codes must be from two to 12 digits in length. The number of digits in the complete account code (main account code plus sub-account code) cannot exceed 12.
Depending on its dimensions, the system can support up to 11,000 Independent Account Codes.
Any number of users can enter account codes at one time.
When you enter a Verified Account Code that matches a code in the Independent Account Codes form, you hear dial tone.
For Forced Non-verified Account Codes, you must enter an account code to make a call transfer to an external destination when:
The Forced Non-verified Account Code COS option is enabled
The route for the external destination is type "N".
For Forced Non-verified Account Codes, an account code is not required if a set is programmed to forward to an external destination when
The Forced Non-verified Account Code COS option is enabled
The route for the external destination is type "N".
If a call is rerouted to a destination that requires a Forced Non-verified Account Code, the requirement for an account code is overridden.
For Fixed Length Account Codes, the system must have the Advanced Analog Networking feature programmed.
Account Codes shorter than the length specified in the user's COS can only be dialed if the Account Code Length is set to the default (12 digits). In this case, the user must terminate the account code with the "#" character. If the "#" character is not received or the length is set to another value (2-11 digits), an invalid account code message is displayed.
You can program a personal speed call key to dial an account code.
For Verified Account Codes, complete the Independent Account Code form.
For Non-verified Account Codes, enable one or both (according to your requirements) of the Forced Non-verified Account Code and Non-verified Account Code options in the Class of Service Options form.
For Fixed Length Account Codes, enter the Account Code Length in the Class of Service Options form.
For Forced Account Codes, enable either Forced Verified Account Code or Forced Non-verified Account Code in the Class of Service Options form.
If you want to use Sub Account Codes, enable Account Code Verified and Forced Verified Account Code in the Class of Service Options form.
If you want to intercept invalid Account Codes, program a Call Rerouting directory number in the Account Code Violation field of the Intercept Handling form.
If you intend to use a Feature Access code in Operation, assign it to Account Code in the Feature Access Codes form.
If you intend to use a feature key in Operation, program an Account Code key in the Multiline Set Keys form or use Superkey (see Feature Keys for more information on Superkey programming).
For Forced Non-verified Account Codes, if you want the "#" character to be used to terminate dialing, set the Number of Digits to Follow field in the ARS Digits Dialed form to "unknown".
If you want a route to have a Forced Non-verified Account Code, set Route Type column in the ARS Routes form to "Non-verified Account".
To mask account codes with asterisks on display phones, enable "Suppress Display of Account Code Numbers" in the Class of Service Options form.
Note: The Class of Service (COS) option precedes Route Type. The system prompts you for an account code only if the COS option is "Yes" and the Route Type is "Non-Verified Account".
