Group Page allows you to make an announcement to a group of people through the speaker of their telephones. A tone is heard at both the paging telephone and the paged telephone before the Group Page is established. During a Group Page, the paging set displays the number of the group being paged; the paged sets do not display any paging information.
See also Networked Group Page.
An attendant can initiate a Group Page but cannot receive one.
Only some phones can initiate and receive a Group page; see Feature Availability below for more information.
The Mitel 5220 Dual Mode, 5224, 5320, 5324, 5235, 5330, 5340, and 5360 IP phones support the Line Interface Module. A Group Page cannot be made or received from these phones while the Line Interface Module is in use.
A telephone can only receive a Group Page if it is idle. Any call processing activity (such as ringing or going off-hook) will terminate the Group Page at the active telephone.
You cannot page a set that is in busy or DND state. If you attempt a Group Page when all group members are in busy or DND state, you will receive the appropriate tone (such as busy, camp-on, or DND tone).
You cannot initiate a Group Page if another page to that group is already in progress.
If the COS option Group Page Accept is disabled for some members of a page group, these members will not be paged but the Group Page will proceed as usual. If this COS option is disabled for all members of a page group, you will hear reorder tone or your call will be rerouted (see Intercept Handling).
Up to 16 page groups are supported by the system. Each group can have up to 250 members with a maximum of
32 IP Phones with the 100 User, 250 User, CX, CXi, CX II, CXi II or MX Controller
32 IP Phones with the MXe
64 IP Phones with the MXe expanded
64 IP Phones with the AX Controller
64 IP Phones with the MXe Server
64 IP Phones with the 700 User or LX Controller.
The number of IP Phones in a page group is limited to 50% of the available E2T channels. On most systems, the actual limit will be less than the physically provisioned limit of E2T channels. Paging groups should be configured with this in mind. In addition, if the connection is across a WAN link, the number of IP Phone members may be limited by bandwidth availability.
All members of a group being paged across a network must be on the same switch.
DISA users cannot make a Group Page.
Ensure that COR and interconnect restrictions allow the paging and paged parties to connect.
Establish a Page Group by using the Page Groups form.
To allow a user to initiate a Group Page, enable Group Page Allow in the Class of Service Options form. A user does not need to be a member of a Page Group to initiate a Group Page.
To allow a user to receive Group Pages, enable Group Page Accept in the Class of Service Options form.
