Dialed Messaging lets you leave a message waiting indication on a telephone. The message waiting indication can include the following signals:
Flashing lamp (on sets equipped with message waiting lamps)
Special tone when you lift the handset (on sets without lamps)
Periodic ringing.
When you receive a message waiting indication, call your message taker to accept the message.
Hunt groups must have a message waiting condition applied to the pilot number if the first available station is to respond to this condition. This requirement does not affect any need to have message waiting apply to individual stations in that group.
Enable "Message Waiting" in the Class of Service Options form for the station that can setup and disable message waiting indications against another station.
To provide tone notification when the station goes off-hook, enable "Message Waiting Audible Tone Notification" in the Class of Service Options form.
To provide ringing notification every 15 minutes during a specified time period, program the "Message Waiting Ringing Start Time" and the "Message Waiting Ringing Stop Time "in the Class of Service Options form. If both fields are left blank, ringing notification will not be provided.
To cancel the message on the first on-hook, enable "Message Waiting Deactivate On Off-Hook" in the Class of Service Options form.
To allow the user to check for dialed messages from a remote station, enable "Message Waiting Inquire" in the Class of Service Options form.
For sets with message waiting lamps that connect to the ONS or ONS CLASS/CLIP line cards, the standalone ASU, or the embedded analog board, enable "Message Waiting Lamp" in the ONS/OPS Circuit Descriptors form.
For ONS CLASS/CLIP sets, enable "ONS CLASS/CLIP: Message Waiting Activate/Deactivate" in the in the Class of Service Options form.
Optionally, set up a Message Taker hunt group (see Hunt Groups).
