See Call History for a description of this feature.
If you plan to have a large number of Call History-capable devices in your network, then doing some calculations to determine how to set up the maximum call record allocation might help you to avoid unexpected error messages. If you do not allocate enough records to the system, or you allocate too many per device, then you may get an "All the call history records have already been allocated to devices" error message - especially, when you do imports of devices using the 3300 ICP's configuration import features.
The system-wide capacity allocation for Call History storage can be determined by taking the number of Call History-capable devices, and multiplying it by the value of the field "Call History - Default Call History records" in the System Options form.
The system-wide capacity allocation must not exceed the "Default number of call history Units" configured in the Dimension selection form. See Change Resource Dimensions for guidelines on changing dimensions.
You can increase the total system capacity for Call History capable devices by either:
increasing the "Default Number
of units" for Call History storage in the
Dimensions Selection form.
or
decreasing the "Max call history records" value in the Multiline IP Sets form.
To program Call History:
In the Licence and Option Selection form, enable MiTai/TAPI Computer Integration.
In the Class of Service Options form for 5x40 IP Phones, enable HCI/CTI/TAPI Call Control Allowed and HCI/CTI/TAPI Monitor Allowed.
Ensure the "Call History - Disable Record Generation" option in the System Options form is set to "No" to allow history records to be created when calls are made or received.
View, and if required, adjust the "Default Number of units" for Call History storage in the Dimension Selection form.
View, and if required, adjust the "Call History - Default Call History records" option in the System Options form. Refer to the System Options topic for details on Call History parameters.
View, and if required, adjust the "Max call history records" field in the Multiline IP Sets form. If this field is unavailable, the set does not support Call History. This step is NOT required to program the call history feature on 53XX series IP Phones, 5X4X series (websets) or 5235 IP Phones.
Assign a Call History feature key to sets, from the
Multiline Set Keys form
group administrator tool's desktop editing feature
desktop tool, or
set by using the Superkey to program personal keys (available only on the 5220 family of phones).
When you press the Call History key, options for viewing and managing Call History records are presented in the set display. Only sets that have Call History keys assigned to them will actually store call records.
The Call History feature allows you to place calls to numbers stored in your Call History. If you require the system to prefix these numbers with some digits when dialing from Call History, add the prefix digits using the option "Outgoing External Call Prefix For Applications" in the System Options form.
Notes:
On 5320, 5330, 5340 and 5360 IP Phones, the Dial softkey under the Call History application does not add the prefix digits that are programmed in the "Outgoing External Call Prefix For Applications" field in the System Options form. Users must use the keypad to add the outgoing prefix digit(s) to the number before pressing Dial.
The following calls are not logged by the Call History feature:
incoming ACD Calls and Personal calls from ACD agents
calls to non-prime broadcast groups
calls to a device that is forwarded/rerouted to "Always".
